The City of Victorville is implementing a new organic waste program for all residents, businesses, and multi-family complexes in accordance with California state laws Assembly Bill (AB) 1826 and Senate Bill (SB) 1383.

SB 1383 applies to all businesses and residential accounts and requires organic waste such as food scraps and garden trimmings to be diverted from the landfill.

AB 1826 applies to all businesses and multifamily complexes with five or more units generating 2 or more cubic yards per week of solid waste.

In addition, the City adopted Ordinance No. 2425 on April 19, 2022. Ordinance 2425 added Chapter 6.37 (Mandatory Organic Waste Disposal Reduction) to the Victorville Municipal Code and mandates the separation of organic materials from businesses, multifamily complexes, and residential properties.
