Automated Meter Reading (AMR)

AMR meters transmit a radio signal that can be accessed by driving by the meter with a mobile collector. This automation transfers billing data accurately and efficiently. The meters also store up to six months of usage data that can be accessed to help identify a leaking water system or billing questions.

In 2013, the City ventured on a 5-year plan to install approximately 34,000 AMR meters. Nearly 10,000 meters will be installed during our final year of the program.  Time savings will be the greatest benefit of the program by far.  In addition the program will help our customers save water by recognizing potential unknown water leaks.
