Public Works Sewer Division personnel perform maintenance and repairs to City owned sanitary sewer mains, manholes, and laterals (service pipes from private properties) located in designated rights of way. City crews inspect, clean, vacuum debris in a safe and efficient manner as per the City's municipal code 10.02.060.

Building sewer lines are the sewer pipe(s) on private property. Property owners are required to maintain their sewer pipe(s) free of roots, grease, debris, and blockages, at their expense, up to and including the point of connection to the city’s sewer lateral.

What to do if the sewer serving your home or building is not functioning properly:
Call a plumber to evaluate the problem. Call the Public Works Department (760)241-6365 if the plumber states that the problem is in the City’s sewer lateral or sewer main. City staff can assist with determining whether the problem is located in the City’s area of maintenance responsibility.
